Hey, Ashley. I know my situation is a bit different, being 20 and 145 lbs.. But my whole family as of lately have been trying to become more healthy.

My mom has lost almost 60-ish lbs. since November, and all she's done is cut sugar/carbohydrates almost completely out of her diet, and started walking 30 minutes a day. If she eats carbs, she eats whole grain breads and pita chips, and even that she limits. She eats lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

I just started counting calories. I just started on Monday, and I have a great app on my phone that I can do barcode scans on pre-packaged stuff, and it calculates everything. You should consider getting an app to help you keep track of your eating/exercising if you have a capable smartphone. Good luck and I wish you the best of results! :)
